I am an artist in film and sound with an interest in environmental philosophy. My current activities include sound design and music composition for film, teaching film and art at Liverpool John Moores University, and I am Festival Coordinator for the LJMU MA Short Film Festival, founded this year with Lydia Papadimitriou as part of a module for the MA in Film at Liverpool John Moores University.

During my PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh I explored a new form of canon composition. The latest of these works, Total Commitment (2019), was shown at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Previous works in this series were exhibited at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, Canada, and at FACT, Liverpool.

In 2014 I co-directed the short, experimental film Graminoids (Kooij and Koens), showing the interplay of wind and grass. It screened in competition, mainly at festivals in Europe and North America, and is now freely available online. Since then I have worked as sound designer and composer for films, installations and live performances. Notable projects are Plastic Man (Kovanova, 2017), which was nominated for a BAFTA-Scotland award, Wolves from Above (Kooij, 2018), which won the Jury Prize at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, and Ontogeny (Barni, 2019), distributed through Nowness. My work has been exhibited at art festivals, such as Sonica in Glasgow, the Edinburgh International Festival, WRO Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, and Aichi Trienniale in Nagoya, in addition to museums and conferences.
